Default Adding keyless entry

Hey,

I have a question... We have a 98 Accord EX that has keyless entry. My friend got a 2000 Accord LX and I think it'd be nice to add the same keyless entry system to her car. Is it just a plug-in module with all the wiring in place, or will there need to be some retrofitting done?

Thanks,
Rob

well, keyless entry or an alarm system with keyless entry.. (they do have cheap keyless entry systems sadly) But i would also agree with what the others said, go to "The Stereo Store" or something and get an alarm system. I would recommend ALPINE but that's just me

Just dont try to get those stock one, coz it really sucked.
i have a 02 accord with factory keyless entry.
I know some(alot) places they give you a free alarm when
you spend over 100 bucks for audio stuffs etc, my friend paid
the guy extra for a better alarm with sensors and stuff.

Best / cheapest way to add keyless is a DEI keyless entry system About 25.00 for 2 FOB's and the brain. Honda's are a no-brainer to add keyless to, because they are a negative trigger lock system.

Don't waste your time on an alarm. After intalling this crap for 2 summers an alarm is a keyless entry that happens to beep now and then. If you want to protect the car from an amatuer thief put a relay on the fuel pump.

If you're clueless but wanna know about this stuff: http://www.the12volt.com

Thanks for the suggestions. I've looked into installing a keyless entry system in my own car (Mits Galant) and it looks like it shouldn't be a problem at all. I've done a couple wiring projects to that car, so I feel comfortable attempting a keyless entry install. I am not as familiar with car alarms, but I don't intend to add one.

I know some cars, when they don't have options they still have the plugs for them. I thought maybe it'd be the same for the Accord, but I guess not.

I'm also glad not everyone is as rude as the first posts I got. They really turned me off to this forum, but the following posts made up for them.

Yes got to the dealer. But only to buy the parts. You can buy the keyless system and its pretty much plug and play. If you want something aftermarket go DEI (Viper).

As for Gimpy Accord. I do agree with you for ther most part. However, alarms are not always noisy keyless entry systems. It does take a very skilled installer to do the job right. But if a thief wants you car he'll have it. Its those ameteur ***** you gotta scare away.

yes but there's at least six window's on your car... and you don't need a handle to open one of those.

its your ignition or fuel systems that really need protection. Unless you drive an armored truck you're not going to keep anyone out of you car... your only hope is to keep them from driving it away.

get the viper 550 thats keyless remote start and security,

there are like two wires that plug into the brain of the alarm/keyless unit on is lock and one is unlock you'll usually find them above the fuse box get your multi meter and test the wire hold lock if it goes 12v when pushed and 0 when not your good to go repeat this for the unlock wire to usually right next to the lock
