Default in or out dizzy

I have a h23a non-vtec with an internal coil. I am going to replace it and was wondering if its better to have and internal or external coil? The car was originally an external coil, but my mechanic thought it best to make it internal and I don't know why or which one to buy for my car since most places sell the internal coils for the h22's and the external coil's for the h23's?

It is already an internal coil at the moment. How do I check it to make sure its alright?

replace it with whats there. why change what works lol if it came with internal stick with internal same as with external IMO, but if you were doing a swap then i could see reasoning to change from internal to external but there again just do a lil adjustments with the wiring and you can make it work.
