speedometer needle messed up?

Default speedometer needle messed up?

I just came back from austin and like 2 mins before i got home my D4 (auto) light started flashing and my speedometer needle started hesitating or sometimes went to zero while driving....WTF!?!?! I just got on the gas a little to overpass someone nothing extreme. Can someone tell whats wrong? I will try to post a video later on. Thanks

uh-oh... get some loot together for a tranny swap. The evil SS gremlin strikes again. Your tranny is dying. swap in a manual.

not sure, i got the car with 127k and now it has 134k. Tranny seems to be fine. just reset the ecu...seems to work fine now but not sure if it fixed it for sure...any comments? thanks

1st rule of thumb, ALWAYS ALWAYS pull the code before clearing it so you can check up on things on the car.

if it drive's fine, then I say just keep driving and see if it ever comes back. make sure you pull the code if it ever pops back up.

Ok the cel went off today and the code i got was 70 and i searched and this is what i got: "Automatic Transmission malfunction with the automatic transmission controls"
and also when i was checking the code the D4 light flashed quickly 4 times. Am i screwed or is there hope for me? Thanks

I really think now that my speed sensor thing is broken since code 17 (vehicle speed sensor) is flashing now, does anyone know how much a new one costs and where it is located on an engine? I would really appreiate, thanks

It probably is the VSS. You could go look at on the car and see if you notice anything wrong just by looking. Its on top of the tranny and its got a sort of diamond shaped plate with two small bolts holding it in. It probably needs replacing.

Ya that was the problem. I had an extra auto lying around from last prelude and i just swapped it. Worked like a charm. Thanks guys now if i can only find an o2 sensor...
