Default Do I need an AFPR if I have a Walbro 255? (EK w/GSR)

I've got about 1000 miles on my b18c1 swap in my 2000 hatch.

I believe the car has a Walbro 255 pump in it. The preivious owner sold me the shell with goodies.. he just pulled the motor, and that motor was making 385/515whp. I can hear the whine of the pump at idle, as well.

Anyway, i come from DSM and toyota land... it's quite common to get higher fuel pressures at idle when using stock rail/fpr and a 255 pump... the fuel return on the stock fpr is just too small to relieve enough fuel to maintian stock fuel pressure.

I'm getting quite a bit of fuel staining on the rear bumper, and my WS2 tip doesn't even come out past the bumper. I'm not running a cat, and I do see quite a bit of dark smoke on WOT blasts (I know some is normal, not sure how much).

I guess my question is, does a stock '01 GSR motor's FPR have the capability to return enough fuel from the rail to relieve the high pressure of a Walbro 255lph pump at idle? Do I need to get a fuel rail and AFPR to obtain stock idle A/F's?

Thanks!

It really should be able to.

Anyone else? I haven't pulled the FPR off to examine the fuel return outlet, but I know it's common on my 2.2L stroked 3SGTE and my old 2.0L DSM... seems logical to me that a 255lph on a 1.8L would cause overrun..

I searched, but with inconclusive results. Thanks!

The walbro doesn't add a ton more pressure but it does send more volume. Your car will run slightly richer with the walbro, best bet may be to throw a stock Civic pump in it as they are fairly cheap.

When I dyno'ed my JDM B18c GSR in my Ek with a stock fuel pump and I was going 18:1 lean when I was @ WOT. When i got a HP Walbro 255 pump it's a noticable difference.

Your car won't run richer @ closed loop. During WOT, you'll have plenty of volume @ Vtec.

I haven't had any problems with fuel since.
