I posted a couple of times shortly after I bought my prelude but haven't been here in a few months and thought I would introduce myself.

I recently picked up a 5th gen prelude and have yet to do anything but maintenance to it. I am hesitant to do much in the way of performance considering it's got about 150k miles on the engine.

Oh, can someone help me add a pic to my signature? I can't seem to get it to save or display the image. Thanks!

Welcome to the site. To add a sig pic, you need to upload the image to a 3rd party site (like photobucket.com), then go to "My Profile" and click on your sig, then paste the URL of the image between the image tags. As for performance, if your engine is on good shape, I see nothing wrong with basic bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust to start)

 

That's what I did but no luck. Once I hit save the picture disappears.

The engine seems to be in decent shape. I am having an issue with oil burning which I need to research but that's about it. I have no worries about simple things like headers, exhaust, etc but don't see a need for anything major. I will most likely start with basic handling upgrades once I begin to enjoy life without car payments again (I just got rid of my other car and own the prelude outright). Once I start modding I am sure I will have tons of questions but for now my only issue is getting the sig worked out...

There's nothing wrong at all with limiting yourself to maintenance until the car is paid off. That's a wise move, actually.

 

I own the honda outright. Until a week ago I also had a second car which I had payments on. Now that it's gone I am sure I will use some of that money to play with the honda but for now it's going towards DEs and travel Inevitably, though, DEs lead to mods. I also get bored easily so I doubt my embargo on mods will last too long.

Glad to see another person who enjoys DE's. I take mine to the track too. Speaking of tracks, is your avatar a pic of your car in turn 5 at Summit Point?

As for your car and mods, do what I did. All I did was replace the worn out parts with aftermarket parts. I didn't replace anything that was a perfectly good part. I don't regret it one bit!

Hope to see you out at Summit Point some time. I will be in either a red 92 Prelude or a white 89 240SX. I plan to do VIR in Nov.

Nope, I'm actually coming out of turn three at VIR. That was my first DE and I fell in love. I am also going to VIR in november with the Audi club. Which club are you going with?

NICE!!! I am planning to do that event too!! I am coming down with quite a few friends. Mostly BMW guys though. I will likely be in my 240SX though. Either way, I should be there in either my 92 red Prelude or white 89 240SX.

I've been to VIR once....and can't wait to go back. I went in Nov of 2004. Man, what a great time, and a great track!!

My instructor is actually a BMW guy, a buddy of mine from the audi club. I was there last May and have just been dying to get back. Everyone warned me how addictive it is but I had no idea just how serious they were
