both should be fine

timing belts should be changed every 70 - 100 thousand miles

water pump should last a good while

honda recommends 60k change and NEVER do the belt without a new water pump.

Why in the hell would you change a timing belt and not go ahead and replace the water pump while your in there..?

Because he has narcolepsy and the only thing keeping the car from crushing him when he's changing the timing belt is his super powers, which turns off when he sleeps!!!!

Yeah so, unless you've been doing hard driving I'd say you don't need it. If you just bought it I would because you never ever know how those 33k were spent, especially with the car being 6 yrs old.

My personal opinion:

90,000 miles or 6 years.

You can push a SOHC beyond that, but the twin cam B and H series engines are a bit harder on t-belts.

Also combine that with the fact that if you break a t-belt on a B-Series VTEC engine you're almost guranteed to destroy valves it's well worth the effort IMO.

When I change a t-belt on a B series engine I replace:

Timing belt
Water pump
Drivebelts
Cam seals
Crank seal
Valvecover gasket
Spark plug tube seals

I also check the cam plug itself to see of it's leaking. If it is then that should be changed and the valves readjusted on the VTEc models.

EDIT:

Yeah iggy below said what I meant to in that only use GENUINE HONDA parts.

But Tom, don't lie. You change all that just for fun.

I second what he says but will say to use only honda belts and parts.

Hi guys, nope I'm the orignal owner and it's completely stock except for the Mugen twin loop, and the JDM Recaro Seats.. I am from canada, so I just converted the KM's into mileage..

thanks for advice, guess I'm good for a few more years before the Timing belt and water pump needs to be changed.
