Default how would i go about checking this CEL

alright so my b16 swap is done, but i dont think vtec is engaging. When i turn the car on everything is normal..i drive around for a bit then when i take it up to about 6-7000RPM i get the check engine light. If i turn the car off it goes away.

should i just shut the car off then check the code (because it doesnt appear when i turn it on)

Yes, check the code..

you got enough oil in there, and.. is your engine warmed up.. and pressure built
