i have a Sohc vtec from a 95 civic ex....the d16z6. i am just wondering if the valve cover is the same on the dx and lx models...except for where they say vtec. when i go crusin or race somebody, i want to be able to pop the hood and them see a sohc non vtec...something that to the naked eye looks like a regular crx Si engine. I know the plug wires and oil cap are on opposite ends from a regular Si but most people won't catch it. well...just want to know if i can use a 92-95 civic non vtec sohc valve cover on my vtec to fake people out! thanks for any info.....

 

haha you could be cool and sand off the vtec make it all smoth and paint it filpflop

 

The dX from a 92-95 civic will fit, I have one on mine.

 

not all valve covers say vtec, i believe the 92-93 ex/si didnt.

 

Just get a 92-93 si/ex valve cover it doesn't say vtec on it. However if they know a honda engine they will see the vtec selinoid(sp?).

 

I've got a d16y8 and it say's 1.6VTEC in huge letters... anyone ever seen that?

 

Yeah thats the Acura 1.6EL valve cover.
Im guessing that your motor must have came from a EL since the other d16y8s dont even say vtec on them.
