i would tear it down since you dont know how bad the damage is until you take it apart.

There are only very minor differences. The rebuild procedure wil be almost exactly the same.

How about putting the H22 head on an F23 bottomend? That's what I would do.

If I had the parts, that's what I would do. I wouldn't go revving the crap out of it often though. I would go for my spirited drives every now and again, but not all the time. I think it should last fine.

I would at least like to build a H23/F23 hybrid one day.

Or maybe a hybrid with the F20 and BOOST the hell out of it. Nice short stroke so you can rev the **** out of it. Too bad it doesn't have the 55mm mains or I would most definatellt be doing it as well.

Until you tear down your motor you wont know whats up with the crank and cyclinder walls.. if the crank is within tolerance and you have minimal scaring on your FRM walls then you might be able to get away with a hone and drop some type-s or Mahle gold pistons depending on what you are doing.. if things are fucked up you might need to sleeve and get a new crank.. you wont know till the tear down.

good luck.

Make sure you label ALL the parts you take off and where they came from, especially the cam caps.

what shoudl i be lokoing for in terms of damage.
the cylinders look good form the top. i already took the head off.
and i think the valves are ok because theres no impact marks on the pistons.
but it was knocking crazy hard, then it stopped , then it froze.
im almost afraid to lok at the bottom end.

as far as the f20/f23 with h22 head, is that just a slap on procedure?
that seams to be the easiest thing to do. let me know please thanks

It's not a direct swap, but it shouldn't be too hard. prelittlelude and Pirate McFred created a few threads about this hybrid. Seems like a GREAT engine for a daily-driver. More tq. on the bottomend and will still make power up high. I wouldn't rev it more than 7K though.

I wouldn't even take apart the head unless you have to. Just the bottom end. The hybrids are a little more than just slap em on but here you go. Read a little and then a little more.

Bottom on the topic is a section called Hybrid Engines.
