Aftermarket brake set-up gen4 JDM spec car
Ok. I have searched for various brake set-ups on the forums content (inc archive), and have not come across what I am ideally looking for.
I know the spoon 4 piston set up is common, but it isnt that cheap over here in Blighty.
Has anyone got any good recommendations for a strong, fade free large brake set-up, either using larger rotors with caliper relocation brackets or 4 or 6 piston callipers?
I am running lightweght 18"'s so have plenty of clearance available.
Not for any particular style of driving, just want better brakes than the standard set-up that seems to constantly fade or suffer from wraped rotors.
Any help or advice is really appreciated.
Thanks

i have been running rotora slotted rotors, with aem brake pads inthe front hawks in the rear and steel braided lines for about a year now without in problems. the breaking is great, i used to have the power slot big rotor with stock calipers and the breaking was good but i lost some acceloration from the larger diameter.
Your best bet is to get in touch with Hi-Spec or Kaad brakes. These will be able to build you 4 or 6 pot callipers with discs to match. There kits come with a relocation bracket, so in effect they'll just bolt straight on.
With Hi-Spec, you get a choice of callipers and a choice of discs with or without aluminium bells, and different sizes etc.
To be honest, if you're only using it as a road car, there should be no need to upgrade the callipers and discs. Just make sure you use decent pads, decent brake fluid, and stainless lines.

I just wonder.... if honda Civic Type R (2003 MY) callipers will fit onto the 'Lude's calliper mounting lugs?
I have done a very quick measurement, and they appear to share the same dimensions across the mounting holes.
This is becuase that an English company called COMPBRAKE make a very good 4 piston calliper kit with larger rotors and bells for £695, but the bells would require replacing with 'Lude versions, and the mounting brackets might need modifying.
Just an idea anyway.....

Try Hi-Spec, as they make a kit to suit the prelude, and the price won't be a million miles away from what the Civic costs.
Just in case you hadn't noticed, I'm from the UK as well, and the Hi-Spec aluminium callipers are very very good for the money.
