Broken HAsport mounts! Anyone else have this problem?
Once I installed my clutchnet clutch the orange bushings tore all to hell. So I took the mounts off and replaced them with the harder, black bushings. Now those are torn and my rear tranny mount is cracked all the way across the weld. I'm thinking the clutch could be too much for the mounts. It is the six puck sprung hub with dual diaphram pressure plate. I know HAsport has started making newer versions, mine are the older style non-billett.
Yeah all of the mounts that I have bought are breaking on the rubber. But they still hold up. Three of my friends have hcp mounts and they haven't broke around the rubber yet. I guess it's just the rubber that they deal with? And I know it's rubber it's polyurethane. But I'm not goona keep saying it over and over.
the problem I'm having is that the motor and tranny are shifting so much that my tranny get stuck in gear and I can't shift until I rev the engine.
my tranny mount broke about two weeks ago and Joe from Hasport took care of it, I sent him my broken mount and he sent me a new one next air. my mount also broke around the weld but still held pretty good, I just put my HCP front mount in the meant time and had no problems.

I have never seen a HCP kit that fit correctly - the front mounts never fit on 2 of my friendss cars.
Any body else ever see that?
As for the car in question, it's my friend's car and of course he drives it hard, but those damned mounts KEEP breaking. It's bullshit to have to keep changing them out, you know?
It would be much worse if he didn't know how to change them out himself - then he'd be paying labor each time too!
...And that ******* rear mount is a pain in the ***!

i have place racing mounts and they've never even thought about breaking.. but theres alot of rattle on the inside .. i guess its due to the bushings ?? plus they are life time warranty!!

here's some pics of my buddy's crx when his HASport mounts took a ****. it was both the rear mount and tranny mount.
kinda hard to make out the second one, but it's the tranny mount. the weld broke and dropped the motor like 2 inches. fucked his 4-1 header and his rear crossmember was cracked afterwards.

my HCP mounts lined up i just followed the instruction that came with them..now the front mount didnt line up but you dont need it!i had to cut my rear cross-member but that was it.
damn that sucks about your friends HASport mounts breaking and screwing up that ****!

I believe that it says in the instructions that you need to remove the front cross member and trim to fit, so technically no it will not fit unless you follow the instructions. Why they couldnt make it a simple bolt in affair is beyond me, but for whatever reason im 99.9% sure that the instructions state that you will need to modify the front crossmember to make it fit

(This was the case on both swaps ive participated in with HCP mounts)

Having to modify the rear crossmember is normal with all mounts.
About the front mount, it definatly doesnt drop right in. But like was said, you dont need it for normal driving. Its not that hard to install actually, you just need to trim back the stock front crossmember mount and drill a new hole for the bolt. The kit should come with instructions for doing this.

i'm confused are we talking about 2 brands of mounts. the post was on HA's and i just bought mine. i didn't know i had to modify the front cross member. but some of you are calling them hcp mounts. well which one is it? and will i have to modify my front x member for my HA's
The whole point of getting the HCP mounts was the addition of the front mount. To have to modify the front crossmember is ******* retarded IMO, and in essence what is the advantage over the HASport mounts then if nobody even runs the front mount?

I still think HASport mounts are cool, but the fact that my friend's keeps breaking ******* SUCKS!!!

What's you're freind running that causes the mounts to keep breaking? Doesn't look like he's got any large power adders that would warrant that kind of destruction. Is he also running an abusive clutch?
Normal bolt-ons - that's it.
As for a clutch I believe he stated it above, but just in case it's a ClutchNet Dual-Diphragm pressure plate with the 6-puck, 6-sprung hub disc.
I have the exact same clutch in my 1992 Civic with B18C5 swap and my stock mounts are just fine with only the Energy Suspension bushings in them.

I'm currently using the front HCP mount with the other three HA mounts. I use to have HCP all the way around thats why my mount lines up, and yes I did have to modify my front crossmember to make it work. it's pretty stiff and the vviiiiiiibbbbbbbrrrraattiiioooon sucks but I cant have mounts breaking on me again.
something doesn't sound right about his install - those are pretty stout pieces. i have a b16a modded in my 91 EX sedan and have cracked off 8500 rpm launches and shift at 9300 rpm and have not a sign of ANY damage after a year..
in an EF the front x-member has to be modded or changed to one of the aftermarket units which is what i did since after grinding cown stock LCA it looked pretty flimsy. i think the x-10 unit might be better than the "cow-catcher" place racing LCA that i have....

How so?
You see pics of other broken HASport mounts on this thread too, right? More "install error" I suppose?
There is nothing wrong with the install at all. Please tell me what could be wrong with an install to where the car runs perfect yet the mounts continue to break.
While we're on the subject of **** breaking, what about you guys and axles? It seems as though the inner joints suck **** on every axle that gets put in my friend's car.
Anyone else have this problem?
I know his car is lowered a lot and all, but so is mine and my girl's cars and they do not go through axles like his EF does.
Anyone?

I agree with you b18c5-eh2, how can you install mounts wrong, they only will fit one way, the only thing i can think of is maybe they were overtorqued???? But as for the axle thing i had the same problem for a while and figured it out. Cuz my car was so low and slammed the inner cv joint boot was stretched and softer and more exposed, and caused a lil crack that would slowly leak out the grease then causing the joint to go bad, took me 2 sets of axles to figure it out. The solution is to either get a longer cv boot, or try and push it back a little or just raise the car. But hope this helps.
Are the failing HASport mounts the welded ones or the billet ones? I've got the billet mounts in my LX, and it's pretty buzzy, but doesn't really seem like the engine moves much. Less than stock, anyhow...
