What tungsten type is everyone using for aluminum ?

pure tungsten is the way to go with aluminum..

although... i am stocked up on 2%ceriated right now....

I usa a TURQUOISE colured one, it can be used for all metals. AC and DC. don't know what it consists of, but they call it multi-strike something. works good for me.

green's fine on lap and butt joints, but ***** up too quick for my tastes on T-joints, which I use red on

you dont use pure for AL for Inverter machines

in my classes I was taught to use pure on aluminum and 2% thoriated on steel. at one of my previous jobs the welders used red for everything.

same here..

although 2% thoriated is good, the books/scientists say pure is best for AL...

Zirconiated has a higher current handling capability compared to pure...so for the same size you can run more amps.

Same. I tried pure on aluminum and it gave me problems. I believe if you have an inverter machine like I do the pure wont work well, i think pure is best for the larger older machines.

I use green but have used red, if it ***** up too much try adjusting your AC balance.

at school they tell use to use green and it works well but i have heard that gray is better.
