del sol door panels
does the part on the panel with the actually door handle and the part is grey and the rest of the door is black come loose from the rest of the door panel before i try takin **** apart... i want to cover that part in vinyl and have inscription sewn into it like Sir-G Del Sol or something along those lines
If you're talking about the lock door handle - which you use to lock, unlock, and open the door from the inside, then yes, there is a screw in it, and that entire assembly needs to be removed before you can pull the door panel off.
If you're talking about what Honda calls the "grip", the handle you use to pull the door closed while seated, then no, that doesn't need to come off, and can only be removed after you pull the door panel off (I think the screws holding it on are located on the interior of the door panel).
If you click here you can see an exploded diagram of the lock mechanism, including the interior & exterior handles. Part#38 is the screw you need to remove. After which you can carefully pull the handle out just enough to manually unhinge the rods that connect that assembly to the locking mechanism.

Yeah, that's why I have no idea what "grey part" you're talking about - I have a 97, everything is black.
Since you're having trouble explaining what part of the door you want to work on, perhaps you could take a picture of it. Lots of free image hosting services around, I usually use imageigloo.com.
