i just changed my alternator belt, cause it snapped off on the freeway, now that i got everything back together, i turned on the car and its sounds like screeching noise, did i tighten the belt too much do i gotta lube the belt or something?, last time i changed the belt didnt screech and this is a new timing belt as well, but now it is. HELP!

 

put a lil WD-40 on the belt, too much and it gets too oily and squeeks more. if it still squeeks, back the tension off a lil. if it still squeeks after that, it may be the alt pully its self, or tension etc....

 

hmm, ill go ahead and do that, the alternator is about 1 month old, got it from autozone. What i also did was, i took the belt off to see if it still made the noise, and it didnt make any at all and sounded completely normal. Hopefully it has nothing to do with the engine making that screeching sound?
