Default GSR with type r cams

I have a B18C JDM GSR, I want to run type-r cams and run the type-r program.
Is this a good idea?
Is it better to run CTR or ITR cams?
And do I need anything else to do this?

hi there? is that what you want run with right now. your best bet is to run with itr exhaust cam with ctr intake cam. ctr intake cam is better than itr intake cam and itr exhaust cam is better that ctr exhaust cam

get CTR or 00 ITR cams if u want to stick with OEM cams. if u want to run your GSR kinda like a type R set up, get a single runner manifold with a chipped ECU and a shorter geared tranny

and to the OP, the tr's are good cams, but i would go with something more aggressive..like stage 2's, and then you'll know what all the fuzz is about...if you want to spend 500 bucks for CTR's go ahead, but just to let you know you can buy blox stage 2 and valvetrain for about 550, good luck with your set up, hope my advice helps

CTR intake cam, ITR exhaust cam. I know a lot of people going with that setup along w/ p28 ecu or p73 96' spec jdm itr ecu which is pretty rare to find.

yes you do...otherwise youll be overcamming the motor...that cam will not be effecient on a stock bottom end gsr...not to mention youd feel like a real douche for spending 500 bucks on **** you cant use...and for the record CTR cams dont cost 500 bucks

the CTR intake cam is a tad more aggressive than the ITR intake cam. Both have the same exhaust cam.

from what i understand, the 98+ itr intake cam and the ctr intake cam are basically the same exact thing. The exhaust cams are the same. If your on a tight budget, then getting oem ctr or itr cams is a good upgrade. You can't go wrong with oem parts. BUT, if you just want to do a one time install and get some actual noticeable power out of cams, i'd wait, save up a few more dollars, buy some aftermarket valve springs and retainers, and find a set of stage 2 cams (blox b's, skunk2 stage 2, buddy club spec 4's, etc.).
