chattering sound on 2000 ex coupe
Input shaft bearing. I know it, because my girlfriend's car does it. We had an extra z6 tranny lying around, so we rebuilt it.
It's your ISB. Buying someone's leftover D tranny is probably about the same cost as paying someone to rebuild it. I paid around $60 in parts to do it myself.

the sooner you get it replaced the better. I have read a lot of post about this and many of us have driven on them making noise for thousands of miles but you never know what is going to happen. be gentle with it change the trans oil and keep the rpms down on it until you can pull it and rebuild it or replace the trans.

how do you guys know its not the throw out bearing?
i was just talking to him on aim and he said that it goes away over 20mph and when he is in gear and presses the clutch it goes away. if it was the isb wouldnt the sound remain as long as the car is in gear???

No..... the clutch would chatter when the pedal was depressed if it was the throw.
Learn how a tranny works.

Cry. You're talking about fixing your transmission when you don't even know how one works or even basic maintenence on your car. If you honnestly didn't know that there was fluid in your transmission, then you don't need to be tinkering.
who said anything about tinkering mr. assumption?
the car in my sig...purchased from a friend. car strictly show besides the i/h/e. it was all i wanted it for. car not modified and was not planned to be modified in any other way because i liked the way it was as it sat.
"what to do" has nothing to do with modding the car further.
assumption 2: that i'd be doing the work on my own. i'm a sales manager at a nissan dealership and i work 60+ hour weeks. i don't have time for that ****. but if i know what it is, then i don't have to worry about that on my 38 mile drive home.
edit: i could be a spelling **** but there's no real point. you're exhibiting your level of intelligence enough.

mike, get the isb changed with the clutch.
jason, learn to be nice. there is no need for any member of the class of '06 to be so rude. its people like you that have driven me away from this board.

LOL douchenozzle! I like that!
Im not 100% but I think you have to open the tranny up to replace the input shaft bearing. Not really worth it if you can find a good used tranny for cheap. I would think you can get one for $100 or so.
The time(labor) spent on repairing yours might be more than finding one from a junkyard or something and just swapping them out...
Definately replace the clutch, throwout and pilot bearings while your in there so you can forget about it for another 100k miles.

the part that sucks is that i plan on keeping this car another year...tops, unless my job or another job i get in the business supplies me with a demo. what i'll probably end up doing is getting an offer and going back to my store to match it...try to get a demo out of them.
then i don't have to drive it or put the work into it yet
