Default Running Rich?

Hello,

I'm am trying to sell my car..BUT..I would like to try and fix this code first if it's not too expensive...I am throwing a Too Rich code and a Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold..any ideas? I replaced my primary O2 sensor a few weeks ago and I still have great gas mileage, so am I possibly not running rich? No black smoke and no bad smell from exhaust..only modifications I have are a short ram intake and adjustable fuel pressure regulator, which is currently set at stock PSI. Please let me know what I can do to try to fix this..I still get abour 220+ miles on the highway and I have had this code for about one month now. Oh and my plugs at idle are greyish and not black or brown...

Thanks in advance!

220 miles on interstate? I hope thats not per tank because I was kicking up above the 400 mark. Maybe you should replace the cat like your CEL suggest. Also what is "stock" fuel pressure?

try replacing the down stream o2 sensor, then the cat, then have the codes cleared

220 miles is not good espically all highway driving. I get about 280 miles all city driving before the gas light comes on. I am sure with all highway driving i would get much better that.

edit: never noticed your car was an ls. Mine is a gsr, i assume an ls should be even better on gas then a gsr?

Its actually the same or a little less for the LS....higher compression and smaller cams (off vtec) = better gas mileage. Higher compression always yields better gas mileage because you're pumping in the same amount of gas and getting more out of that (since its compressing it more, thus causing a larger explosion). So in theory, you have to use slightly less gas because you're making it go further, given there is the downside to that which is you have to actually compress it which uses power.

Well, I get about 220 mpg with highway and street miles and I thought that was normal gas mileage because before I was getting about 160 highway and street miles to a full tank!!! I replaced my primary O2 and it jumped from 160 to 220 to a full tank so that is an improvement..anybody know what else I can check? My fuel pressure is set at 34/36 psi, which is stock...am I running too rich to the point where I will foul up my primary O2 sensor..or am I still not running that rich? Oh, and will a bad cat cause me to run rich? Any advice is much appreciated!! My car has a real low idle to the point where if I let off the gas it will stall...so I adjusted the idle screw really high to prevent that...anybody know if that and the gas mileage is directly connected?

Thanks in advance!

fyi, i get 37.4 MPG on the highway in a fully built turbo b18b RS (with stage 2 turbo cams) and i don't drive like grandma either.

check the condition of your vaccum lines, possibly.?.

reset and check your codes again then work on fixin them one at a time. it sounds like you are on the right path so far, just keep working at it.

Haha..I wish it could be that easy dc2rtek...but that would make me no different than the car thiefs...well kind of...I know...I'm trying to fix my problems one at a time, but with a generic code that says Too Rich..it's really hard because it doesn't pin point the problem..I just have that code and a Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold..would rather fix my too rich code first. Any ideas on what I can check to see what is making my car run rich? I know it could be the MAP sensor..but how would I check that? Also, I was told it might be a coolant sensor, but I called Acura and they said there is more than one...so which one and how would I check it? Thanks for all the help guys!! I'm sad to say I am still leaving Hondas...but not for long!!! I need a 4 door for the mean while and then I will buy another integra as a weekend driver!!

One more thing...I also had to adjust my idle screw because my car was dying when I came to stops...and I would also like to know if my car is running to the point where it will kill my pretty brand new O2 sensor..? Thanks!!
