Corroded/Rusted Throttle body?
Ok, so stored my wife's 98 Hatchback for a couple months and when putting it back on the road I see there's a mouse nest on the air filter, so clean that out and start it up after an oil change.
The engine surges at idle once warmed up, suspect vacuum leak, determine its the idle air control valve or whatever its called and tinker with it. After some tinkering it stops surging, however when cold will not rev up high like its supposed to. Hmmmm, ok I'm out if ideas and take it to my mechanic.
He opens it up and the throttle body is apparently quite badly corroded? Strange, I saw it with my own eyes and indeed this is the case which apparently is causing my idling problems.
Is this common? The car has 140000 miles on it but has been dealer serviced out the yinyang by previous owner, she was a dream customer. I just have never heard of such a dilemma.
