Default VTEC...

Flame on, I'm prepared, but I'm hoping one of you will answer this.

What year was the "VTEC" introduced?

( suit is on)

As you can see, I'm not a Honda owner.

I'm taking a wild guess, but werent the early B16's introduced in the late 80s/early 90s in Japan? either that, or it came w/ the NSX motor?

I think vtec engines were first used in Formula 1 in the late 80s. I still remember Ayrton Senna dominating with his McLaren Honda.

89 was the year it premiered in Japan, in the NSX and DA (XSi & RSi) Integra. Here in the US, it's debut was in the 92 Integra GSR (B17A)...which is funny/weird because Japan never got the B17A engine.

Katman has the correct answer.

It was first introduced to the consumers in late 1988 for the 1989 model Honda Integra XSI. (re: http://www.hondacorporate.com/enviro.../timeline.html )

The NSX was not produced until LATE 1990. (I believe October of 90 is correct)
