Speak to me of doors and roll bars
Ok, so I have a 91 CRX Si that's kinda almost done....it has sparco fighter seats and a roll bar. The problem I have is that when the doors close, it's made an indentation on the bottom of the door panel. The doors have the usual cuts from the seat belts (it now has takata harnesses so that won't happen again.
I've gotten new doors panels on the way, but gotta figure out a way to keep the panel from crushing agains the bar. I was thinking of cutting out a section and either making a recessed area and covering it somehow so it looks like it's spossed to be like that or.....I dunno.
Wanna use her for local shows, so I'd like to do a good job on this. Anyone got an ideas?

Here's what I did:

I just drilled out the plastic rivets, and the panels came apart in two. If you mount the tops only, you still retain the airflow to the side windows, which makes it bearable in rainy weather to actually see out of them. Also makes it possible to rest your left arm without pain.
Also, if you can see, I put several coats of Plasti-Dip on the interior handles, as they're not too comfy to use continually in stock form.
Of course, I failed inspection in May for exposed wiring, so I had to get another pair of panels, cut them, and duct tape the cuttings so that they doors would close and I'd pass inspection. The half panels are back on now.
My current plan is to put the tops on the car now back on the bottoms I just bought (they're non-Sis, so the tops are pretty nasty, imho), then have an interior shop smooth out the bottoms and cover in alcantara. I don't really know of anything else that'll work ok. Well, I did see someone whose crx had metal panels screwed on, so that all wiring was tucked away - that was really well done.

Got them off ebay, and it doesn't look like there's a seatbelt thing....didn't know that'd make a difference.
Wonder if you took the bottom off and had something made to fit? Hadn't thought about taking the bottom part off tho...I knew someone had to have some better ideas. Thanks!

i did the same thing tommy did. then i added a flat aluminum panel to cover the bottom.
but if youre getting what seems to be 88 panels, then you should be fine with rollbar rubbing.
for anyone else with the same issue, what ive seen cleverly done is to CAREFULLY remove the plastic behind the vinyl skin without cutting the skin. that way the vinyl skin will stretch and still allow the door to close without interfering.
