Default cam question for d16y5

hey guys i got a question if u dont mind.

would a skunk2 stage 1 camshaft that is designed for a d16y8 fit into my 1997 d16y5?

let me know i just wanted to buy one. thanks!

i thot an HX is still vtec? but its VTEC-E and it engages at 2500 rpm instead of 5500. ???

so it still wouldnt work?

gosh, it's hard to say,
I tihnk I remember hearing about people swapping
vtec cams into nonv heads, or was it visa versa,
can't remember.

but this specific application is a bit out of the ordinary. I'd say find a pic of a y5 w/ the vc off, and compare it to a y8 or even a z6

HX still has vtec. It's a different kind of vtec though. Read up on it. Basically, the Y5 uses a two-lobe cam and is extremely fuel effecient because of the swirl created by how the valves are opened.

But anyways, the two-lobe HX and three-lobe Y8 are different. The Y5 motor is very hard to exchange parts with.
