Default Nostril painting

Ok, this winter I tried to paint my 4gen's grill inserts. first couple of coats came out crappy so I want to schoo,l came back and saw that they had become plastic blobs. Trying to help me strip and repaint them my dad had used paint stripper on them which dissolved that clear layer . This week I ordered new ones from honda and really, really, really want them to be black. So my question is do you guys have any tips on painting them? Should i lightly sand them maybe? How many coats? I was also wondering if I should call Maco and see how much, and if they could do it even though that may be a little over kill. Thanks

Why not just buy the black ones then? You know them come in black and grey, right?

Wet sand every square inch of them with 400-600 grit paper until there are zero shiny spots left. I'd get a plastic auto primer and some real atumotove paint if you want it to last more than a few months without chips, and either spray it yourself or have some local shop do it.

yeah, sand it very very well. Prep work is key. Spray a couple layers of primer over the 600 grit sanding, and then wait a full day for them to dry. Then hit it with a couple layers of whatever color you desire.

Anytime I am painting on plastic I also use an adhesive promoter. You can find it anywhere. I got some at Walmart called Bulldog. It's like $5 for a can. Apply it directly to the plastic and then put your primer over it.

Honda likes to stick it in your a$$, twist it, and then break it off...
