I just got done changin the headgasket on my 96 gsr, broke one of the cam rail bolts on the intake side ( the middle top bolt, one of the first ones you torque down) ... is it ok to run with one broken bolt? thanks in advance, by the way this motor is gonna be runnin for another month or so until my built motor gets done
I did the same thing and ran it with another different bolt for a week. I reccomend you go to the dealershpi right now and chip out the 5 bucks for the bolt and buy a torque wrench.
$5>$new engine

Dude i wouldn't run that motor with a cam bolt broken. You could problably get away with doing it but it wont have the correct oil clearences on that journal. The specs are as thin as a piece of your hair. It could ruin your head journals and camshafts. Did it break flush or can you use vice grips to get it out. Bring it to an engine builder, he could problably get it out for a small fee. It would be worth getting it fixed.
