Acura Genuine Vs OEM replacement parts
ok, i am rebuilding my motor and need some feedback / experiences with OEM replacement stuff vs Acura parts.
Im getting the Headgasket set:
Honda = 250 OEM Replacement = 145
Piston Rings:
Honda = 45 x 4 = 200 OEM Replacement - 50 for all
Oil pan Gasket:
Honda = 40 OEM Replacement = 16.99
I am getting all OEM replacement stuff from a place in san diego called Rising Sun and they have good stuff from wut ive heard. ne feedback on stuff that is not honda? thanks!

Yes, OEM (original equipment manufacturer) is a confusing term. Some people use it to refer to the original manufacturer itself (e.g. Honda), but it can also be used to refer to parts sold by aftermarket companies and built to specs set by the OEM.
If you want to compare prices with places that discount OE... er, I mean, Honda brand parts, click here.

I would get Honda oem parts for engine parts like rings and head gaskets. I think Honda stuff fits a little better because its made and engineered for your engine and the other stuff is a knock-off with a goal to make more, to sell cheaper which in turn less quality stuff... imo...
hey whats up, I myself was left asking the same question. Honda replacement all the way. especially when it comes to gaskets. honda is not known for is dependability for nothing. granite it comes at somewhat of a premium the original stuff from honda is way better when going with a rebuild project. try establishing a good relationship with your parts distributer. ive been buying for a year now and get 20% off everything honda. youll be surprised
hmm, i got honda rings. i got the cheap head gasket cuz it was a complete head gasket set for like 120 bux cheaper. i will c and hopefully it will work just as well, im using stock bottom end and compression. only difference is supertech valves, dual valve springs, and TI retainers
