Default dropped an d16a6 in a 90cx, need a little help

just wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction. we dropped a complete d16a6 with transmission from a 88 si into a 90 cx hatch. the only bit that is left is this plug that comes from the injector harness is square and the one going into the body is round. could someone point me in the right direction for steps to rewire it?

also the d16a6 came with this vacuum thing that mounts on the firewall. the one it came with has these two cylinder tubes and the one on the firewall is only a single, it too has a different plug. any advice?

i also have a z6 vtec head that will be going on along with a jrsc, i already have printed the instructions to swap the head and i have instructions for mounting the supercharger. any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Pix would be alot more helpful. I assume you're talking about the dizzy plug and map sensor.

BTW: I really want pix of the JRSC install!

i got one, its a 90 and its not a dx and its not an si so it has to be a cx. it came with a 4 speed manual, black rear tail center, no passenger side mirror, no rear wiper, and a cat that was mounted to the manifold. so it has to be a cx.......... i think, then again i am a noob.

as for pics i guess it will have to be tommorow now, but theres only one harness that goes to the drivers side.

sounds like maybe a civic standard or a dx. the civic comes in std,dx,si models but thats something else did you convert from dpfi-mpfi. its ok we were all noobs at one point.

maybe its a canadian thing, we got loads of CX's here. perhaps thats your standard?

yeah i sorta converted from dpfi to mpfi because i pulled the stock motor for a 88 si motor that was complete with transmission to intake. came with its own harness. so now its nestled in there but just two bits remain, that harness that goes to the drivers side and the vacuum thing that mounts on the firewall.

O, u used the donor harness?

You shouldn't have done that. The main plug won't match up. Are you talking about where all the wires merge into one big plug and meet another big *** plug before going into the firewall? Did you even add a resistor box? Check my project thread if you don't know what I mean.

I prolly shoulda mentioned before, the D16A6 is almost identical to the SOHC ZC, and the CX is almost identical to the Std. so look at my project thread. I covered pretty throuroughly the EXACT same swap you are doing. take a peek then ask me any ?'s you have.

yeah i used the harness that was on the motor, primarily because i dont have the stock one anymore, the guy who sold me the si motor took the stocker in partial trade.

the plug comes from the intake/injectors area and goes to the drivers side, upper corner. it came with resistor box and everything so i left it all on there.

ill search for your thread unless its in your sig, thanks for the help!

yeah see that round connector you got by your mounted resistor box, that one.

also what did you do for that vacuum thingy on your firewall, did you just redo the vacuum lines on your intake and use what you had already mounted?

To backup what's already been said.
You should be using the engine harness that was on your car to begin with - NOT the d16a6 harness. You'll need to perform a DPFI to MPFI conversion on the harness.
Rywire offers the conversion for $160

unfortunatly the old harness went with the old motor. is there any way to make this work or do i have to find another dpfi harness?

edit: damn looks like i have to source out the stock harness....

what about those vacuum lines on the firewall guys, the d16a6 came with a 4 pin, the one on the car is a 2 pin.

and to add to this ill be going a few steps further by adding the z6 vtec head, is there anything i should know now before i start hacking up harnesses?

Isn't it the other way around? Just swap the MAP sensor off of the Si donor car (if available) or any other Si.

All I did was hook up the lines I could and plug up the ones I couldn't. Works beautifully.

okay so i dont have to use the one that came with the d16a6, would "T"ing them together also work? i dont want to lose the lines just yet because i still have to install the jrsc and want to make sure i have those vacuum lines available.

also what ecu would you guys recommend? this will have a z6 vtec head, the jrsc with no fmu so it will have to be chippable and i want to tune myself. its been so long since ive been back here on this forum, so i cant remember which tuning software i was supposed to use (uberdata or turboedit) along with which ecu.

thanks for your help guys!
