have you noticed an increase in your MPG after installing it?

Is your car auto or manual?

If auto, it will be easier for you to get great MPG. If manual, keep the revs under 3,000 for excellent gas mileage.

this is crazy...$289 part just to save on gas...dude if that is your reason for buying it...its not worth it. You have to enjoy the way it sounds too and the idea that your increasing power output not so you can save possibly a few dollars everytime at the gas station when filling up.

Really important..
I've been here for like 2 months now, and I saw like 20 posts about CAI...
Some ppl say it'll increase power output, but after some dyno tests, looks like it decreases it..
Some ppl think its stupid, some ppl think its cool..
But i really wanted to know the truth..
Does it INCREASE power output? Or is it just a toy that makes ur car sound louder?
Thanks :D

NO it doesn't save gas.
Your gas milegas will decrease more because
your CAI delivers more cold air to the engine
for more combustion thus more power.
Don't even worry about the CAI, just get it,
you won't regard it. Plus the sound it makes
at the limiter, its like DAMN!!!

yes actually it does. i dont have a dyno anywhere around me so i dont know why the aem would dyno with lower numbers than stock. i know the stock is pretty much a cai. but on dynos the short ram intakes dyno higher because the hood is open with a fan blowing on them. but for the gas mileage part, i always calculate my gas mileage and i compared averages of before the cai and after and also after the cai and the evo 2 and i had about 1.8-2.3 more mpg.

Your logic is flawed. It does increase MPG, even if it is marginal. The extra HP comes from more EFFICIENT combustion. So as long as you drive normal, you should get a tad more MPG. But why drive without spirit? If you get the CAI, enjoy the extra power and sound. Word.

My logic is not flawed. I've record several times
of how much mileage I get per full tank of gas
without the cai. Then with the cai, I decrease
around 10 to 20 miles for each full tank. You
can't tell me I'm wrong. Plus my habits on driving
are pretty much the same each day of the week.
And I drive normal fyi. If you don't think that driving
hardcore without the cai and with the cai are the
same, then I'm right.

The only benefit I see from my cai is more hp,
cooler engine, and the sexy vtec SOUND.

Don't get me wrong mang. I'm not saying you're not smart enough to do math and figure out your individual MPG, but your info about how a CAI and an engine interact is not right. More efficient combustion uses less gasoline period. Your case is different for some reason. Honda90Si is getting a really good increase in his MPG. In the past the most I got was around 1.3 miles extra per gallon.

it decreases your mpg and it increases your hp just a little. People buy it for the sound mainly. If you think it saves u gas it's probably bc of the way you drive. For instance, when you use the brake pedal you need power from the engine thus it will use more fuel. Same goes for a/c when u use it. Therefore, you can't actually get an accurate reading everytime ur tank empts out and u fill it up and then do it over to calculate your mpg.
Dynos are made to know what the actual thing does on a constant speed. That shows true results unlike doing a math on your own. Gotta take in consideration: traffic, times u use highway, etc.

I would like to see something that has been proved
Some ppl said: Increase MPG, Decrease HP..
Some : Less MPG, More HP..
It's hard for US (noobs with CAI) to understand it

yeah..its pretty weird...you think me driving 4 hours straight will still have at least around half a tank left?? like for example...me driving 75 to 85mph??

Newer cars might see a decrease in MPG because they come from the factory with efficient fuel/oxygen ratios...? So if you pump more oxygen in to the engine the combustion will require more gas to level the ratio back out.....causing less MPG, but more hp.
