Engine swap for 93 civic dx
Whats a good price on a b16a im looking to put it into my 93 civic dx, but right now i think i screwed up the tranny when i threw it from neutral (i was reviing it) and into drive, since then it acts funny.. its burning up gas fast and i have another post on it.
Check out http://www.hmotorsonline.com for pretty reasonably priced motors. I hear nothing but great things about them also.
Not saying you couldnt get anything cheaper if you know the right people. Hook ups, friends, honda-tech classifieds...etc.
Does this answer your question? If not, be more specific and i'll see what I can do. From what I understand from your post..since you threw it in "drive" I assume you have an automatic. And if its the stock motor, a D series as well. If you go with the B16 you'll need a B series tranny as well so even if your trans is REALLY fucked up its all good since you'll be replacing it anyways.
Not to deter you, but definetly do some research before you pick up the B16 as they have relatively no torque so if this will be your daily driver and you dont plan on boosting/building the car, but just looking for some more pep I would reccomend an Integra LS/GS/RS motor, the B18b1. Not only cheaper...more torque. No Vtec..but who needs it? haha.
Good luck man.

good luck telling your parents that you were trying to peel out in an auto. Nice work. When you are talking about a swap, I hope that you are also talking about doing an auto to manual conversion. If you are near b'more, hit up je import performance (www.jeimportperformance.com)

Absolutely, however its almost impossibly rare to find a GSR Auto trans and the Type R trans is manual only.
But you can mate an automatic Integra LS trans to the B18b1 obviously as well as any other B series but TRUST ME MAN...you do NOT want an automatic GSR haha.
But yes, its absolutely possible. So if you arent interested in learning manual but want a newer B series motor...just get a full automatic B18b1 swap, or a CRV B20 swap.
Any more questions man, just ask them. Only way to learn!
