Default I go through throwout bearings MUCH too often

Anyone else here familiar with the bad throwout bearing noise, basically its like i high pitched cricket, and it chirps whenever your foot is off the clutch.

When i put the motor in my car 2 years ago, i used the throwout bearing that clutchmasters sent me, it shitted out within the year, and i deduced that aftermarket throwout bearings are shitty, if you look, theyre made of freakin plastic.....

SO, i swap it out for an oem honda one, yes it was used, but only for like 30k, and not even 6 months later, the sound is back.

Anyone have ideas, the transmission was changed when i changed the first bearing out, so thats not the problem, and my clutch isn't riding it or anything, so thats not it, anyone know why i'm frying these things??

thanks fellas

do you power shift alot? if you take the car to high rpm and power shift often that would be a factor

When i put my ACT clutch in the T/O bearing went rather quickly.

When im engaging into first from a stop and just starting to roll, sometimes ill get an INSANE horse sound ( really really loud whine/creak ) and also every gear i hit while moving is followed by a nice high pitched quick cricket type noise. Im way to lazy/busy to pull my tranny. Especially in my SH.

James yours is horribly loud. I never had an issue with either of mine.

I'm going to install an act clutch this weekend due to the tob giving way. Should I ditch the act tob in favor of an oem one???

nah i dont powershift man, you cant really do that to honda transmissions and expect the syncros to last at all

the fact that your car does it as youre starting to roll makes me thing the actual bearing part of yours is bad

the wiggle noise i get is only when the clutch is fully out, aka when the bearing is riding the collar on the input shaft housing on the trans

i would say definitely use an oem one, pulling the trans sucks....

honestly james, yours doesnt sound like a throw out bearing problem to me. Maybe more of a problem with the clutch or pressure plate being dirty and not grabbing well initially?.?.?

matt, the only t/o bearing problem i ever had was with ACT. I got maybe 10k miles out of it. I also had that engagement squeal after about 1k miles on the clutch.

I had a dynapac clutch before this action and i had maybe 10k miles on it and when i pulled everything out, the t/o had very little play in it and still spun freely. Hell my clutch looked almost brand new with the amount of pad left on it.

so far the only problem i have with this action clutch is the engagement point, which hopefully will be fixed after changing the clutch fluid.

are you sure it had "30K" miles on it?

Something like that I would only use a new OE part to avoid a days work to potentially only save a few bucks in the long run.

yea it was a stupid mistake, we had two throwout bearings sitting there a new one and an old one, the new one got thrown away accidentally (not by me) and then i had to have my car done in time for work so i threw it in, pissed me off, but i had to at the time, i figured it would be ok, it came off of my brother's car

If it sat around, got wet or something it could have effected the life of the bearing. If you sit at the light with your foot on the clutch pedal allot it can also kill the bearing faster.

During spring break i did my rearmain./fly/clutch/brand new oem honda tob. greased it.

***** only makes the "crickett" sound when it's humid/rains outside really annoying.

I agree with you doug. My car sounds like its going to ****** explode. I really, really , really dont want to pull the trans without a lift while just on jackstands. It really just doesnt sound like a good time to me. When the clutch actually starts to take a ****, ill have it all done at once. Until then, its all about the horse.

Did you use the urea grease?
I am soon going to replace mine because of the cricket noise, and hope the new oem bearing and a lot of grease will solve the problem.

so the oem one isn't any better than an ACT ones that come with their clutches? I read that theirs are better than oem. What should I do when I put the new clutch in then?

Use a brand new OEM honda throwout bearing and make sure it is lubed up real good.

Lubed up? Seriously I took mine out of the honda bag and put it on. It should come from the factory internally lubed etc. Shouldn't it?
