im ordering the h22 swap for my 4th gen. i have the option to order a tranny with an LSD for 300 more. i just wanted to know if the LSD that comes w/ the tranny is quality, and worth the money. i know i need one either way, and id like to make things simple and buy the tranny w/ the LSD equipped if its quality.

 

do you want to break axles?

 

good axles aren't that expensive. and you only need the front 2 replaced if they do brake.

I wouldn't worry about axles unless you pressurized your ride.

 

ya i know that...but its just a pain in the *** to change them everytime...or if you break them you could just put your car in storage...right???

LSD is important. Limited Slip Differential. Makes sure both wheels spin at the same time.

you know, so you dont look like one of those fools who thinks he's a badass while burning out, and only spinning one wheel!

LSD gives you an advantage in Drag, and Road race/autocross. i would definatly spend that extra 3 bills. youll just be wanting to buy one later if you dont. then youll have to pay a lot more.

$300 extra for a used (I'm assuming JDM) tranny with LSD? I'd say go for it.

 

haha... this is too funny. have you ever driven an Accord equipped with LSD? Lete's just say that since I equipped my car with a Quaife, I have vowed never to own a non-LSD car... Bye bye open diffs... I can now relieve stress on my axles, push my car much harder through the turns, and actually drive in all weather conditions.

 

wow. seems to be some mixed opinions. im prolly going to go with the LSD. can someone go into detail about the whole "breaking axles" bit that kept coming up??

i broke my 12th axle april 7th...i need lsd.

 

when you dont have lsd, all the power/torque of the engine has no way of being distributed evenly to both wheels. thus, more goes to one than the other, sometimes WAY more. causing an axle to break, or in accord94dx's case, shatter.

 

inside the intermediate shaft, mind you.

 

This is exactly why I got a Quaife. To handle better and not break stuff. Good thing I got it cheap ($250) by finding one in a wrecked Prelude SCCA racer.

 

those that said an LSD is not worth the money are obviously missing a few screws....

 

From what I have heard though those JDM LSD's are nothing like a quaife. They serve the purpose, but if you are really seriuos about dragging an accord or road racing it you should get a quaife or somthing. Just not a Phantom grip though.

With that being said,there is less to choose from if you want an LSD equipped swap so the motor may not be as good and it may have been beaten on more since the person in Japan wanted an LSD for a reason.
