pardon my ignorance if its already been discussed here fellas, but i was filling up the other day and started wondering about the whole "E10" fuel going into my C5 motor. now ive done a little reading on it and from what ive read so far, aside from lower gas mileage, no real adverse effects come from the use of corn gas(does have some corrosive properties), but im just more inclined to visit another station next time that hasnt yet conformed. i dont know, its so new that id like to hear some actual evidence or experience from using vs not using it, but maybe its too early. however i dont know if we have much of a choice soon if it will be, or is already govt mandated.
ive been loyal to chevron since day one, but the local 76 station that doesnt use E10 yet to my knowledge is looking somewhat more and more attractive. ive read that some places actually have the E85 mix, but the older cars that tried it suffered from mechanical problems due to the higher mix of ethanol. does that mean then that the continued use of it now, even at 10%, could lead to possible problems down the road for my itr motor? hope not. hope its only in my head.

That's all I have ever used in my integra... it's at all the gas stations. My car has 70k on it, and it's 10yrs old. It still runs perfect.

Thats true, here where I live it has been manditory that all gasoline has 10% ethanol for years now
I guess the better question now is, what will it take for our cars run E85.

If i last recall it was a law that all gas stations have blended e10 within the gasoline by early april here in hawaii. Not to mention that whatever gas station volunteers to have e10 will get a tax break as well which no consumer sees.
I was a long time 76 customer and shortly maybe a month or two of putting e10 gas in i started to get less and less miles per tank. It got to the point i was averaging less than 200mpt and my car has been kept in pristine order ive done all my maint early. I since then switched to chevron and i now average 250-275 depending on conditions. Chevron has me satisfied for a long time even if its 6 cents more than 76.
As far the e10, there was a big discussion about it on FH a month ago or so. Try searching for it, has alot of informative things on e10 and such.
