electrical fire in my engine bay last night.. =/
I was entering on the freeway when i decide that i want to beat on my car a little, so i pop the cutch and as soon as i let off, my car's lights flicker off, and then turn off...Probably 20secs after, i feel my brakes going out and i can press them to the floor...It looked like there was a fire coming from the area of my engine harness because i had my hazards on and they got shorted out from the fire.. I will have pictures up later of this and hopefully someone can tell me how this happened?
I know wires touched somewhere and caused a spark.. idk how, but it did... since it was night time i had low visibility and paniced because it's not everyday that my engine bay is lit up by flames..

same thing happened to me, minus fire, when my battery bounce and hit my intake, everything flickered and then shut down. but one time one of my headlight bulbs popped out and caught the plastic piece on the headlight on fire, i didnt realize till i stopped and i saw smoke coming out of the hood. pretty scarey!
You say you popped the clutch, and then everything went for ****? I would look to see if you else so broke or punctured a fuel line. You might also ask the insurance guy ( providing it's insured for fire) the cause. Don't tell him about the little goofing you were about to do (will null your claim). Had something similar happen awhile back but in a different car.

so you do have a relocated battery. From the pictures it looks like that wire is too small to be running to a relocated battery. My money is on that the positive wire could not stand the voltage and caught fire.

If the battery cable was too small, wouldn't it have heated-up & smoked *inside* the cabin as well? Your lucky you didnt loose your whole car.
