Crazy night...accident then problems...
So tonight was...well...my first run in with a real on the street accident involving me...there is tech in this thread but let me tell u the story first...
So theres this turn down the road from my house....its a big sweeping turn so i usually take it a lot quicker then i should...well that was my mistake...i was driving a friends car tonight and it got ugly....
we hit the turn doin about 75 mph....its a 45 mph zone.....we hit the turn i went accross the road...then down the apex...well in between that his tire popped...we didnt think his tires were low on tread....so when the tire popped i did what my instincts said and hit the brakes and steered the car to try and get it through the turn...well we were goin way too fast and the tire didnt let us turn so we went staight....towards a pole
we hit the enbankment which slowed us down a bit but i turned the car enough to not hit the pole but got extremely close...the front of the car was about a foot away from the pole...i got down off the enbankment and heard the tire and we changed it....
to the tech part of the thread....when we drove the car home.Everything was fine.but one thing, the car pulled hard to the left...is that becuz of the alignment got knocked out or is it becuz of the donut (spare) tire that we used? i need to know becuz now i have to pay up for his part becuz i said i would.
what a crazy night and for 17 years old i never want to go through that again...but i know i will.My other friend who was driving his truck around that same turn in front of us that saw it all.He told me he never wants to have to panic like that ever again.Everyone turned out fine with no injuries and we got everything sorted out.I just thought id share this experience with you all and Wow...ill never forget this night for the rest of my life

glad to hear you're okay! maybe slow down a tad? i dont wanna preach, but to be honest i could never go more than about 5 mph over the limit with someone riding with me, I just couldnt risk them too!! like i said, glad you're okay!!
That sucks...
There was a kid in my autos class two years ago. He bought a pretty freaking new Ford Focus hatchback. It was black, Pirelli's, Zetec, all that goodies. It went pretty good. He liked to do burnouts on it and the tires got super bald. He was involved in two accidents before he finally wrecked it.
The first time he put it into a watery ditch, the car was in the shop for like 2 months, or so it seemed. The second time he rear ended someone and got a trailer hitch in the hood and light assembly.
Finally he took it around this 25MPH corner, he said he was going the speed limit and the car just freaked out, but we all know the real truth. It was wet, the tires were bald from the burnouts and he rolled it...
Sucky way to loose a pretty nice 12,000 dollar or so car. His insurance jumped quite a bit after that.
Just remember that most of that showing off and stuff isn't worth it in the long run when someone is hurt or whatever!
Glad you got lucky and everyone was ok. And for the pulling hard, I would imagine that your allignment got knocked off due to the hard cornering and landing in a ditch. As long as the donut is the same size as the other wheels I don't think that it should make a difference. I had a donut on my mom's car for like 1 week, it drove fine. I would hope that nothing got bent or anything. Good luck!

it turned out that....
control arm and axel are bent....

The tire probably didn't pop as in get a whole it probably broke the seal from the wheel because you were taking a turn that fast and the tire pressure wasn't high enough to take a turn that fast.
good to hear your ok...but what the hell were you thinkin man...you seriously could have killed someone...
if ur in this situation again(lets hope you wont be) dont hit the brakes after u start losing it...aim where you want to go and try to drive it out...once you hit the brakes u will start sliding and have no control of the car...at that point your only hope is to hit something soft or cross your fingers and hope you dont slam into a wall...
just be careful when you drive...if u want to race go to a racetrack...the streets are not the place for it...imagine you hit somebody and killed em...other than the fact that your gonna feel like **** the rest of your life, the judge will throw the book at you and you will be going to jail for a very long time

I also learned the hard way never to drive someone else's car hard.
Back when I was 20, I rear-ended a friend of mine in a 91 Civic Si in my friend's car, a 2000 Civic Si. I was the DD for a bunch of friends for the night, we were at a rented house out on the coast and a bunch of us headed to a motel after everyone was done partying.
I was following my friend in the 91 back to our motel. We pulled out onto the main street and my friend in front of me got on it hard (he had a b16a). The guy who owned the 00 I was driving was sitting shotgun with me and he said to get on it. I went to redline in 1st, 2nd, and right as I shifted into 3rd I heard my friend yell at me.
I thought we had another couple blocks until we made it to the hotel, but we didn't. Im doing around 60-something MPH and I look up and my friend is stopped in the road about 100 feet in front of me waiting to take a left (2-lane road). I slam on the brakes, but we start sliding. I release the brakes and try to get back on them, but its cold and 3am so the pavement was cold and the tires just kept sliding.
Luckily, my friend saw us coming and got on it right at the last second. He said he hadn't even made it through first yet by the time we hit him. The airbags didn't deploy luckily. We pulled into the motel and looked at the cars. The front end of the 00 was pretty fucked up, cracked bumper, cracked headlight, cracked badge, small bend in the hood. The 91 was fine though, although the bumper was slightly ajar.
Long story short, I paid everything in cash to have it repaired, and it completely drained my savings. It was 2100$ to repair the 00 back to what it was, and just 250$ for the 91.
I will still drive a friend's car from time to time, but I NEVER romp on them now. It just isn't worth it.

When I was younger I did a lot of crazy stuff too. Now that I am older I preach to the younger guys that safety is key.
