Default Why does the Type-S weigh so much more than the Type-R?

I'm curious as to what the Type-S has that the Type-R doesen't to make it weigh almost 300lbs more. Would a loss of 300 lbs. actually be noticeable in terms of handling? What could you junk in the Type-S to bring it down to almost 2,500lbs?

Radio, A/C, lighter seats, less sound deadening material, lighter spare, aluminum control arms.. etc. And yeah 300 lbs is ALOT and will do wonders for acceleration, braking, handling. etc.

So are you saying the Type-R does NOT have a radio or AC?

Of course, it will be quite a large increased in handling performance. Whenever the
"racecar" goes out to the drags, it ALWAYS as light as possible (ie. gum out of pockets, radio out, etc)

yea no way i could live w/o radio or a/c. i mean come on its like 100 pounds for both of those who cares you gotta have some stuff. but yea 300 pounds is a major difference i guess you just gotta ask yourself can i live w/o some comforts.

uhhhh are you serious?? 300 pounds is a fuckload. put a fat *** person in the passenger seat and see if the car pulls like it does when nobody is next to you sitting shotgun. if your trying to even lose a fraction of that 300 pounds a good start would be : A/c,power steering, radio, passenger seat and back seats, interior, wiper fluid, wiper blades, spare tire, etc. i mean not all are willing to gut out all the things they think are necessary. but it will knock off some pounds.

They got you covered, Type iS is the JDM model below the Type R. I believe A/C is an option on the Type R though.

i dont think it's 300lbs lighter than a typeS. that's pretty much what a dc2r weighs and im pretty sure the dc5r is heavier than the dc2r.
