i guess the stock synchros are crappy for a really shitty driver or something, but i've beaten the **** out of mine for over 100k, and just recently did 2nd gear start to give me trouble.

actually he blows **** up all the time, replacing things like hubs and ball joints far more than he should have to.

the recall had NOTHING to do with syncros, it had to do with a shift fork not being strong enough.

and honestly i also agree that the stock syncros are not "crappy"
they are not the best for high performance applications, but they are a logn way from crappy, i also have a JDM h22 transmission that arrived on a swap with 75k mile and a worn to paper thin 3 puck exedy clutch. I have driven on it for 5 more years including spraying on it and lots of racing. Its still holding together.

I have heard great things about the Gearspeed synchros as well, but every time I try and order a set they are back ordered. I had hoped to put them in, with new sleeves, new bearings, new seals, an lsd and final drive sometime this year, but i may just go with brass synchros that are stock since i have not seem them be any worse on h series compared to b series or any other.

yeah i'm sure your girlfriend has gotten over 100 passes down the track, and launches at 6k, shifts at 8.5k, and barks 3rd gear down the 1/4mile.

i've broken everything on that car even cracked an exedy clutch disc hub into 4 peices, and the tranny has help up fine all through the years.

I think I know better than you on how hard I push my car.

the h transmission will last you as long as a b if you dont shift like a cro-magnon, get a twin disk clutch and it will shift as fast as any b series trans

Being that these are notorious for crappy synchros, are the Gearspeed carbon synchros the answer for all us H series owners plagued w/tranny problems? </TD></TR></TABLE>

I just got the carbon coated syncros from gearspeed because of my 3rd gear grind. It turned out my syncros are fine and my grind is most likely caused from my grinded up sleeves. I ended up having to order a whole sleeve set for 3rd, 4th and 5th. Parts finally came in and im gonna have everything put back together and my car running tomorrow night. My dilemma is whether or not i want to keep the carbon coated syncros or get my $300 bucks back since the sleeve set came with brand new oem 3rd, 4th and 5th syncros....but not carbon coated...But yeah, just wanted to let you know it may be something other than your syncros like it is in my case. And let's get some quick replies here so i can decide if i should keep the carbon coated syncros or not!

well the reason the h2b kit is because people like keeping there axles, mounts, shift linkage, clutch, and tranny all b series because that is what they already have in the car. (integra). so in the long run its cheaper. and there are more mix and match and after market parts for the b series tranny.

another advantage to the h2b is the axles dont have a horrible angle, and the motor sits higher so no bad ground clearance.

and if your asking which tranny is better for boosting. its always going to be an lsd or longer gears.

so get your info right before you start talking Sh*#.

Hell, it's cheaper, faster out the box, more displacement, not that much heavier than a B, Mahle Golds letting you save about $1000 on sleeving the block????</TD></TR></TABLE>

because the use of the h2b adapter lets you keep the stock axle angles

then why does honda have a TSB that specifically states that the 5th gear shift fork is a PROBLEM?

have you flushed your tranny lately... try pumping the clutch multiple times... I have the same problem sometimes... especially if the car isn't warmed up fully...

I have a combined 325,000 miles on my two H series trans' and not a single grind. In fact it shifts like butter unlike my civic which would grind like crazy going into 3 of it 6 total gears. Maybe i was just too much of a man for the civic

didn't the shift forks on some years of the H22 tranny get made out off some crappy alloy which wasn't as strong so they had to make them out of a stronger material so they wouldn't bend. cant remember but it was like '96 cars or something

ahhhm so why do u have an H and H tranny then?
ALL drag racers have to do some form of reinforcement for their transmission.
maybe it was abused; maybe u abused it
get it fixed & stop complaining
