Best ALL AROUND spring rate? GC coilovers...
Im planning to order a set of GC coilovers with a custom spring rate. car is a 94 civic coupe, and is going to have a gsr turbo setup pushin 350whp. This car is going to bne my "weekend car", some drag, some auto x & canyon runs. What would be a good all around spring raet?
I was thinking 350F , 450R
I was thinking 350F , 450R
i'm at 400F and 375R, i want to go a bit higher, maybe something like 450F and 475-500R.
it rides fine, but i feel the front is too soft and bottoming out on the most severe bumps. I'm not that low either. 5-3/8" measured at the front jack points, and 5-1/2" measured at the rear jack points.
but overall, i think 400/400 is a great starting point. the off the shelf rates are 380F and 280R, great for daily but to pushy (understeer) for track or autox.

One of the main reasons I'm going stiffer next time

I also started with 400/400 on Konis for my 00 gsr. Feels great on the street, but way too soft for autox and HPDEs. I also suffered from bottoming on the street.

what shocks? if you have adjustable shocks like konis or AGX you can make them stiffer, i ride 350/400 and i never bottom out. unless you have some insane potholes.

for a FWD car you would want the rear to be as stiff as possible to keep the weight shift to a minimum becuase once you launch the weight shifts from the front to the back, meaning away from the drive wheels.

Um, Konis adjust the rebound only, not the bump. So turning them up won't change how much the suspension moves under compression, just how fast it returns back afterwards. I never really had any issues bottoming with the stock UCAs in there (well, just once on a stupidly huge pothole), but with camber adjusters in there, they hit alot more often.
And its LA, I do have some insane potholes.
