Default axle removal

is there any other way besides prying the axles off the tranny?...its an automatic tranny as well...plus is there any other way of taking the lower arm from the knuckle without using a hang puller?...is it gonna do a lot of damage if i use a crowbar to it?...coz even with a crow bar, it still wouldnt come off....any suggestion or help is greatly appreciated...thanks....

All you have to do is first remove the brake calliper. then get some rope or somthing and hang it from your spring and make sure not to kink the brake line. After that ther should be a 10mm skrew up top on the control arm that is for cover. Unbolt that and the cover should com off reveeling two more bolts. Undo those and your contol arm should come off. Oh, and undo the tie rod and sway bar that are connected to the control arm.

If i missed anything, im sorry i dont have my car at the time so i cant go out and look. This is just off the top of my head.

remove axle nut, pop hub off axle, (un bolt caliper like you would when yuor changing break pads, un bolt castle nut from lower control arm, pull out cotter pin.) i believe thats all you have to do. you dont have to pull radius rod or anything. should pull right out

Do what TorteX said first. If that does not work, then move on to what i said.

yeah once i pull the cotter pin out, do i need a hang puller to pull the radius arm down so i could move the whole rotor assembly to the side?...i'm following the helms manual step by step but i couldnt take the radius arm off the knuckle....i've taken out the castle nut and the cotter pin but still not giving in....i've use a crowbar to pull it down but still not good...so do i really need a hang puller?..thanks

If you are going to whack it be sure to put the castle nut back on so you don't hit the threads by mistake.

Beating the lower arm works everytime. 5lb sledge!!!

i have a hard time with the lower ball joints too. so what i do to take out my axles is i just undo the lower control arm, at the chassis, and leave it attached at that ball joint. you have to undo the 2 radius rod nuts that are on the control arm, and the sway bar, and also the damper fork. then what i do is i swing the whole control arm/rotor assembly out, and it clears the axle.

I did this today and I just used a pry bar on the pass side. Then on the drivers side I used a ball joint seperater to lossen the joint. I then used a pry bar.

yeah finally got them apart 2 days ago. needed a 6 foot breaker bar. broke my snap on breaker bar, 2 craftsman ratchets, a popular mechanics ratchet, couple extensions too. sucks *** but finally broke them loose. then the front drivers ball joint came out like butter but the pass one took us 3 hours to get out.. P.I.T.A. if you ask me. Finally:
