first time at the track...i think i need an h22 tranny
so yea i hit the track for the first time.
here are my mods...the ones that matter at least
h22 with i/e/dc header, pullies, removed egr and balance shaft belt, phearable chipped p28 still on basemap, and f22 tranny, wanli tires 205/40/17 tires at 23 psi

its not that bad for the first time..considering my tranny and tires
but do you guys think that the gearing of an h22 tranny will help me a lot? i was aiming for mid to high 14s...
i also had tons of wheel hop

your 60ft could be better. But you can only ask so much of your tires and wheel hop. Some motor mount inserts and a nice suspension will take care of that.

jw, why would you install a phearable ecu if its still on a basemap?
its basically like the ppl that install safc's/vafc's and never get them tuned but it sure does look purdy in the lude....
you could probably get into the high 14's easily if you got a good tune.
maybe even getting rid of that dc header and you are good to go.

when i get back in the country, i'll have to take mine to the track. i have h22 with i/h/e and h23 tranny. the only thing i notice, is that it falls out of vtec from 1st to 2nd. other than that i like it.

i was also thinking about that...not only because of the price, but also because i think the only gear thats really different is 2nd gear. but then again i really hate falling out of vtec. 1st is same as the others, and i believe that the 3rd is only .02 different from the 5th gen h22 trannies, and 4th and 5th are pretty much the same.
5th gen h22

4h gen h23, taken from 92lude.com
M2S4 - 3.31 - 1.86 - 1.32 - 1.03 - 0.81 - 4.27
i think the h23 trannies only go for around 250-350, where the h22 tranny goes for around 6-700

yea, i have heard that the f22 tranny is good if you have a boosted h22 because of the longer gear ratios but not so good if you are running n/a. If you do get a new tranny you might look into a lightweight flywheel and an upgraded clutch if you want to go that far while it is out of the car. and Don't go directly to the track after the swap. You want to get used to the new tranny. I have seen so many "i changed my tranny and my numbers are lower" and "i got a stage "4" clutch and my quarter mile sucks now" threads where people change out their stuff and hit the track thinking they will make some powerfull gains but they haven't driven their car enough to know how and when to shift right.
but yea, definatly get the h22 tranny. And if you can find one with the lsd, that would be a plus. I don't know how they handle at the track but they do wonders in bad weather.
Good luck.
