Steering wheel sticks..
I was recently a dumbass and hit a curb w/ my '95 del Sol. I replaced the wheel, lower control arm, knuckle, etc. So all of that is straight now. But, when I turn the wheel (ex. taking a left or right turn) I have to manually turn the steering wheel back into the normal (straight) position. Any suggestions or ideas about what might be wrong here?
Thx.
Thx.
id get the rack and pinion checked sounds like a bad pump could also be your steering center is fucked up i dunno im leaning towards a bad rack and pinion though

p.s. Me saying steering center I meant alignment
Sorry about that I reread my post and saw that it made no sense.
Anyway if it is power steering as you say it is. Than I would not factor out the rack and pinion. Due to this is one of the things that brings steering back to center on its own besides that like HCJDM1 said, hows your alignment?
pulling to one side maybe?
Is there a vibration or are your tires making an obscene amount of road noise?
how bout when you brake does it like to pull ?
Send a little more info than what happened
Because I have the same prob but my car Is'nt PS so it does'nt return to center on its own completely for a reason. Thats my whole backing behind why it may be a bad pump or steering rack..
Another thought did you have your axle checked on the side that you did this?
because a bent axle will cause this easily...
but yea like I said give a lil more info like any noises, driving weird(other than current prob), vibrations, etc...
Hope you get a fix soon

Just got the car all back together last night and it's making some noises.. I'll provide a more detail explanation later.. And I have a spare axle, I'll try replacing it.

Hmm..
I think its the steering rack. I'm going to replace it this wknd and see if it fixes the problem. I'll post if it works/doesn't work.
