So I have an LS/Vtec in my 96 Civic coupe and was planning on doing a complete swap with a stock LS motor. Unfortunately, the guy who owned the car and supposedly "built" the motor used all these different wires for the harness.

My question is:

Is there a way to revert back to a non-vtec LS motor?

I know that I need to take off my vtec head and put back on a stock LS head but I'm sure it won't be as simple as that. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What do you mean "different wires"?

Are you talking about the wiring harness.

Assuming the guy didnt do a complete hack job, you should be able to plug the harness into the LS motor(if its the same OBD). You will have a few extra plugs for vtec/knock sensor, but thats not a big deal. Not having them plugged in isnt going to hurt anything.

What I meant by different wires is that the wires he used from the wiring harness are different colors or different all together from the original harness.

Would it be easier for me to just buy a new harness?

 

Thats up to you. If you arent having any electrical problems now, I wouldnt worry about it.

Just reuse it and save the $$.

Now, how do I determine what OBD I have? The ecu says p28 and the plugs going into it are gray. Then I see a jumper harness and I dont know what OBD that is. The stamp on my head says "PR-1" if that's any help. I wanna get the correct OBD when I get a new head.
