Default HELP ME!----1998 honda prelude help

my car will not start..and if it does its @ a very low idle @ around lower then 1000 rpms..and then it shuts off right away..also when i try to start it and it wants to start, but does not start,.my car does crank though and does turn on..but imediatley turns off...my intake sounds like it backfires..but when the car has stayed on the car is running @ low 1000 rpms and slightly give it some gas and my car goes to normal(thats only happended twice), just like how i had it!...,....can it be that maybe i need a new head gasket? cuz i do have about 150k on my h22 engine. is there something wrong with my fuel system?..or my electrical system?.im new to the h22a4 and i dont know whats goin on...i need help asap..its my only car to go to skool for right now....also ive been noticen before all this happened, that my car temp kept on goin up after a 40miles of driving with no AC on..when i stop @ a stop light the temp rises and then when i push the gas and the car starts goin..the temp goes down..but it goes up after i drive it with no stops for a period of time..whats the problem with that?.

coolant in your oil would be a sign of your head gasket being toast... do a compression test and check that too.. idle is around 6-700rpm so its fairly low if set correct so thats not a bad thing. Check your timing too. start simple and work up from there. Search the forums too there is alot of info here if you search.
