I went to do an oil change this morning in service and someone showed me that my half shaft on the driver front left side is loose (i can move it right and left when i mess with it) and needs to be replaced...the boot is torn in half also...

they quoted me for $136 for the axel and with labor like around $300. I was like screw that and i went online and ordered them for $78.74 with driver axel seal, boot, clamp, and axel assembly.

i was wondering if i could still drive my car for about another 4-7 days (thats when parts come in) without any problems...and is it easy to take out the driveshaft and put in the new one...

when you say you paid online $78, that was for a rebuild kit or for an actual axle? it's easier just to pick up an axle at the part store for like $60. no the axle isn't hard to change, just eat your wheaties before starting.

and i personally couldn't tell you about the 4-7 days. that does sound like alot of play. if you had no choice, i guess it would be fine, just do the speed limit and no fast cornering or launches.

 

you should be okay. It is an easy job the hardest part can be getting the nut off the end of the shaft but other than that not bad at all.

 

if you were her in cali, i'd do it for $20 in 15 minutes rebuilt axles at autozone are only like $70 with a lifetime warranty.

if you pull the axle, be sure to fill the trans up with HONDA MTF and if not honda MTF, use non-synthetic 10w-30
