P.S. Gear Box....btw, are you sure he didnt mean axle seal and steering rack boot? That'd make much more sense. I suggest you just get him to order/install the parts because they arent that expensive and most of the cost will be labor anyway.

He told me that the part and labor will cost me around $222. plus. And when I asked him how much is the part, he said around $115. I'm thinking if I can supply him the part (which is normally lower online) I can save some $$$.

Sorry I didnt make myself clear the first time around. Generally if you take the axles out and take them to an axle/CV shop they will charge you around $60 for the pair (4 boots/parts and labor).

http://www.acuraparts247.com
http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org

The rack boot is under "P.S. Gear Box"
The axle boot is under "Driveshaft (1)"

Alot of shops i know will not install parts that you bring to them. Ask them first if you buy your own stuff, will they install it.

does it make clicking nois when you turn? if it doesnt just change the boot but if it makes the noise replace the entire axle. Repairing the axle is not worth the time

Nobody knows what he's actually talking about, you get "that's what i thought I need a cv boot, but when I told the mechanic I have an extra boot, he told me that I need the right axle seal steering rack boot, not a cv boot." I cant decipher that, so I dont know if the boot needs to be replaced or not. That plus civic91 doesnt seem to explain things and wants us to magically guess and tell him exactly whats wrong or something.

Guys, if I know exactly what I'm talking about I will not ask this forum, I'm just going to what the mechanic told me that my right axle seal steering rack boot is leaking and need to replace. Thanks for all your input.

well, if its leaking, you can go under your car find the leak.

Is it on the steering rack or axle?

then follow the links posted above, and find the boot.
