Default Head plug cause Head Gasket failure???!?!?!....

A friend put a motor together for me a month ago, and needless to say, the plug required for an LS/V was left in the head at the folly of my friend. I am currently experiencing no idle, white smoke out of the VC breather/ dipstick/ exhaust. I am DD'ing this car, and need to know if the likely suspect is a blown HG because of the plug.

Engine:

B16 (1st gen) Head
Built ( Valvetrain, cams, etc.)
Stock B16 block....

I have the time this weekend to pull the head and replace the gasket/remove the plug, but I would like to confirm my fears before I invest time/$ into this motor. ( i have spares, so down time is negligable)

the plug for the ls/v? you mean the oil kit for the ls/vtec? why would you need a plug on a stock b16 block?

I think the head was from a previous ls/v setup, and it was left in the head. OP wouldn't have vtec if there was no oil going to it correct? Just do what you plan on doing over the weekend. Sounds like your on the right path. HG sounds blown to me.

no vtec..... I know this already (not a prob.)

The plug from a previous LSV kit is still in....I just want to make sure (90%) that the head gasket is most likely blown, and that it would cause the smoking problem.

Thank you for the posts
