i had a similar question, i asked a friend that works for honda. he said any of those pollen and air purifying filters are not in any of the older civics. only in the 2001 and up civics. hope that answers your question.

it should be a way for cleaning or doing something about it to stop the smell from outside to come in the car!

there is no a/c filter in anything 2000 and lower.. if you want to get rid of the smell you can try cleaning out your blower motor housing, or spraying one of those gay mist sprays into your vents from under the windshield while the air is on

you'll have to take your blower motor out clean it out and while you're at it clean the vents from the outside all the way to where they exit in the car, I had the same problem so I just bought one of those vent deodorizer that clips to the vent. They have them anywhere for 2 dollars for four pack. Don't use all four or you will pass out from the smell when you go to get back in your car after sitting all day, trust me.
