I'm hooking up a b16a2 into a 94 DX civic. It came with this P30 ecu, I've read this on HT that "the JDM ECU's dont look for a knock sensor", is this true?..and if it is, is this obd-1 p30 i have going to require me to hook up the knock sensor? all the pinout's are there...take a look at the pictures

^^ those numbers say 37820-p30-000 and below 470-110244

and a second question, whats this connection here for. Located right next to the alternator

thanks for putting up with my bs

Your ECU will still look for a knock sensor. The plug near the alternator is the crank fluctuation sensor.
Im not sure if its going to physically LOOK for the knock sensor, but it WILL NOT throw a code for one. I've had my B16a2 in my 92 DX for almost 6 months now, and it has never thrown a knock sensor code. Knock sensor was broke already when H-motors sent me it, and I never bothered to get it fixed.
But it definetly will not throw a code for it.

Yours didn't, but my p30 did throw codes for the knock sensor before I sold the car. Not everytime, but when it did, the car ran like crap.

what ecu were you using?
It's really no big deal to wire up, the d15 motor has a knock sensor already wired so just cut that line and hook it up to the b16 knock sensor..plug in
i figure if it's on the motor it's there for a reason
