Default Whp needed for 10sec pass?

I tried searching but wasnt having any luck. What kinds of whp (assuming slicks, traction bars, good suspention, etc.. are used) does it seem to take to achieve a high 10 second pass at a track with elevation close to sea level and a car weighing approx 2200lbs or anwhere near there. What have any of you personally seen or heard of? TIA.

a lot of money and a great driver!

i have seen cars with as little as 480 whp go 10's but turbo

as for all motor high 200's to low 300 whp can get you there...

On a turbo application I would say high 400's low 500's depending on the driver. That sohc from P.R. just went 10.90's with 455 whp , hope this gives you at least an idea.

its reachable with under 380 whp. i was running my car for only 1 season with 350 whp, and i was constantly running 11.207-11.209.

What exactly is your setup if you dont mind me asking. I'm currently building something and hoping to eventually go 10's with it after some practice driving the car somewhere around a 400whp 93 oct tune.

I say that is very true , P-PO had helped us with a sohc down here back in 03' and with 349 hp we ran 11.3@118 mph with a single slam so I say that is very possible.

Wow, what did these cars weigh? Were they strictly race cars or were they also a street cars?

my car is a 97 ek, i had full interior up front (carpet, front seats, roll bar, dash, windows, sfwd trim i guess you can say. it weighed 2250 with me. 14 psi on a 84mm b16, 353 whp, i could run 11.20's all day.

another 30 whp on a turbo car is huge, thats why i say 380 whp can get you in the 10's

I was hoping for an 11 second pass on a pump gas tune, but now by the looks of it i might be able to run a 10 with alot of practice driving the car.

When you dyno a turbo car, do you have to calibrate the dyno for "turbo hp"?

of course you do, and you cant forget to calibrate it for "sohc hp" or "dohc hp" or else or number might be off.

I was just clarifying that I meant whp produced by a turbocharged engine rather than all motor/nitrous/supercharged.

So allmotor cars can run quicker times with less power than turbo cars?

So then why go turbo? Cheaper in the long run or what?

well yes just because of traction and accelaration differences like turbo lag and such

It's all about the weight differences. NHRA allows N/A cars to be quite lighter.

I think this dude is about right. I personally believe that you could run high 10's with less than 400whp on a 2200lb car. I ran a 7.74 at 97mph in the 1/8 on 10psi and around 330whp on small old slicks. My car I guess weighs around 2200lbs only thing its missing is the carpet and its a 92 EG hatch DX.
