just wondering cause all i hear about is i want this much hp and tourqe but no one cares really about 1/4 mile times. i mean if you have 500hp but are not going anywhere cause you spent all your money on your engine and none on suspension then what good is all that hp going to do you in a race. it is just how i feel. i would rather have a 300hp well thought out car that can run low 11's in the 1/4 than a mean 500hp car that really doesent do much of anything. just my $0.02

you wont find many 300whps that can hit low 11s.

friends with 475whp and itr trans w/lsd slicks, 75 shot, good driver, barely broke 10.9 last year...

well my boy with a completly stock b16 in a crx with a t3 turbo with a .48 a/r ran a 11.9@109 on 110 octane and i know he is no where near 300 so if he was it would probebly be low 11's. i mean i know that civics might not but still i see cars with alot of power come to the track and my boy blows them away and you can tell that they have not thought there turbo set up out cause you ask them the specs on the turbo and they answer with its a t4.

Well then ur buddy has some crazy car, now was the other car he was running with the t4 spinning it tires the entire way down the track. The guys with moster hp will always be fucked in the 1/4, but get then on the highway and they will really open up. My car should hopefully be running by the end of the month, and i'm shooting for 500+hp, not cause i want a 10 second car yo.

ok yo how many race events have you been to where they had a 40mph roll contest. dont get me wrong having that much hp is kool and i plan on hitting in the 400's but it just seems everyone one here is worried more about hp than what the can run in the 1/4. i mean stop take a look at half the treads and they will start with "how much hp".

why does it matter, really, go out then and prove yourself with a 300hp car against some 500s, more power to those good setups and good drivers.

I honestly dont care about race events to much. This year i will only compete in one, which is the battle of the imports, and i am only doing it because it comes to the town i live in. I think alot of people on here are not build there cars to run major events, but i agree if i was and wanted to run more consistant i probably would detune the setup, so i can work on other aspects of the car. But to cruise the highway with my buddies the setup will be perfect. Also how many people really hit that 500+hp mark, there is probably only a handful of people that have.

right now, in my area, within 20 minutes driving i could name about 10...that have broke 500 this year...

yea now a days if you have money or know a good set up that you can copy than 500hp would not be that hard.

thats cool as hell, i wish i we had that kind of showing around where i live. In my area there are alot more musle cars, not to many import running around with actual performance stuff done.

what about at the street races when you are holding your dyno slip that says you have 500+ hp but then you get beat. i am not saying 500 is not kool i am saying why is everyone so worried about there hp. if you are on here asking how much hp will this turbo give me then you might want to take a year off and reaserch what a turbo is before you try to make a set up.

The question isnt why is everyone worried about hp and not 1/4 times. The question is why not worry about it. Hp numbers reading what most mustang and big boys (supras, ls1s) are incredible even if you run a track time at 14.5 but your trap is a ******* 130 (exageration there). Also they are doing because they can. Thats what it comes down to. Not all of us asspire to be john force here. We dont have the sponsors to fix tranny and other multiple problems that happen when you run low low track times.

Ok guys ct me a break its late.(insomnia sucks) What i am trying to say you can get high hp numbers not run it at the track and with good tuning not break ****. But once you start going to the track alot no matter what parts you use **** is going to break even if it is thought out.

eaither way you are going to break ****. wether you go to the track or high hp. all that this tread was made to say was that i think people look over alot of things and it seems everyone is getting caught up in wanting to make high hp. like i said i am pushing for the 400 hp range but if i have to give up some hp to have a better all around street drivin race car than i will.
