new setup +questions.
so i just got my subs installed and i have some questions. the amp used to be hooked up to 6x9's and acted as the rear speakers, so now are my subs acting as rear speakers? i didnt change any of the wiring i just hooked em up in the box i built. also my friend has one 12in. alpine type e, and i have 2 infinity perfect 12.1's yet his bumps way louder, these are fine for what im goin for even with the shitty amp but still it doesnt make sense. anyway here are the pics, i have infinity kappa 6.5's in the front and am putting in my kappa 6x9's in the rear soon.

First problem is your car. Your car is real difficult to get a propper bass responce out of due to its design. You have a metal barrier that seperates your trunk from the main cab. Your friend has a car right.
Well here is what I find you have 2 350W "RMS" subs, [Kappa Perfect 12.1] The amp you have is rated at 4x65W into 4 ohms @ 0.5% THD or 2x200W into 4 ohms, 1kHz @10% THD so more like 2x130W into 4 ohms @ less then 10% THD 20 -20,000.
Even at 2x200W it is severely under-powering the subs, to properly drive the subs you need 1x700W RMS into 2 ohms or 2x350W RMS into 4 ohms.
You would be better off using the amp on the 4 speakers in the car and getting a 1x700W RMS into 2 ohms amp for the sub, or just replacing the RadioShack amp with a mono block sub amp.
Also an mentioned by wrx-killer-Sti eater the metal fire wall between the trunk and cars interior is not helping at all, we do subs behind the seats of a Del Sol like these... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...=1403 or cut holes in rear "fire wall".

well i really cant do anything about the "firewall" and i was considering doing 2 10" type r's behind the seats but i figured that there wouldnt be enought airspace(1.1cuft). and as far as the amp being a POS i know that
. i plan on getting this one soon http://www.crutchfield.com/S-R...P2000 . however i still expected more but i guess ill have to wait for the amp...

If you had them setup for the rear speakers you are probably using the pre outs for the rear on the HU. Take it out and switch the rca's over to the sub pre out and see if it helps. I'd also get a bigger amp but I'd try chaging over the preouts right now.
I would look for a better, [mono block] sub amp, IMO the Profile is not a lot better then what you have now, are they fudging the numbers, how do they go from 2x320W RMS into 4 ohms to 1x960W RMS into 4 ohms, how does a MOSFET amp with 100A in fusing, 4x25A make 960W RMS?

you built this box yourself? looks good. what are the measurements? i have 2 12's in my del sol in the trunk but the only thing i hate about it is that i can put away my targa top

i wonder if cuttin there really works. i mean i dont think a small hole like that would really compromise the structual integrity but i just dont know. it probably doesnt even make that much of a difference
