Default Type R Tranny

I am planning on getting a Greddy Turbo for my LS soon. I have an automatic and am looking to make a transmission swap. I am wondering if it is possible to mate the Integra Type R transmission to an LS? Also, with 67,000 miles on the engine, would turbo be a wise decision or should I just forget about it and turbo the next car I get? Thanks

I'm probably not the best person to answer but I'll try.

I think the ITR trans should bolt on (you have a 5 speed?).

Turbo will be a fine decision, but I think you should probably plan on eventually rebuilding your motor. Doesn't have to be anything crazy... but if you run safe boost levels and tune it well you shouldn't have any problems.

Don't wait to do it. If you have the means to do so, turbo it now!

Wont the ITR gearing be too short for a turbo?

Any B-series hydro tranny will bolt up with no problems. For your swap you're going to need a whole lot more parts though. PM me if you need help.

Not that much more than a GS-R trannies ratios, but why waste the money on it when all you'll really need is the LSD...even then you might wanna get a heftier unit.

To me, the ratios on each individual gear are only compared to each other to determine gear spacing (and don't really add up to that much in terms of final gearing...especially b/c we're comparing the similar ITR and LS [oops] trannies), and the final drive is what determines how fast the car will spool up. You should try to maximize your gear spacing to stay in the most effective part of the powerband for the ultimate goal of maximizing acceleration, and because turbo's have a far wider powerband than an NA comparable, you're allowed to have longer gear spacing and a taller final drive to maximize your time in the acceleration part of the powerband.

Gear spacing needs to suit the type of racing you're doing to yield the most effective results...it's all about looking at the critical factors of the goals you're trying to meet. Sound logical?

I'm guessing he wants a new tranny, bc he has an AUTOMATIC car, just get an LS tranny and put a Type R or Quaife LSD in, and you're fine, it will bolt right up
