swapping a si motor in a 1988 crx hf what do i need besides motor and trans
I just got this 1988 crx hf and i was wondering what i need to get other than the motor and trans to put an si motor in it
si motor, tranny, ecu, you can use the hf axles,,also you gotta depin or cut the wire from pin B9,,,,this is an hf only thing cause for some reason the reverse lights are ran to the ecu.....so when you change ecu's and go in reverse it will act up,,so cut that wire and no more problems,,but the reverse lights still work
Wouldm't hurt to upgrade to the si axles but not needed...but if you do you need to swap the front knuckles with Dx or Si or even 2g Tegs...but its not needed to do the swap, the hf axles and STD civic have thinner axles with a different outer than the others civics/crxs
I'm doing this exact same thing, so I'm definitely interested. Can someone back up the reverse light thing? I never heard of that one before.
And I'm suspension name stupid...can someone show me a pic of whats needed to use si axles? I'm planning on using si brakes too if that matters.

yeah i dont know whats the deal with the reverse light...all i know is that for some reason its ran to the ecu clip..i do not have a clue why,,but its an hf only thing just like the shift light....and if you get a non hf ecu when you put it in reverse it acts up,low idle,stall,etc.....you can still drive it though its just that reverse..
to use si axles you need to get some non hf/std hubs,,so look for dx,si,lx hubs

Well look where the axle nut is...in the center of the rotor, if you want an easy swap i say get the whole assmble from upper to lower control arm...the upper is the wisebone shaped bracket, it bolts to the shock tower, the 2 bolts you can see under the hood to the fron and back of the top of the shock...and the LCA connects to the bottom of the whole assmble and is connected to the rear crossmember under the car, should be able to tell when you look at it...to do the swap this way you just unbolt everything from the LCA, ie. swap bar, shock, tie rod...and then the LCA from the car, then disconnect the brake line and then unbolt the 2 upper control arm bolts, slide the whole assmble down around the shock and do the reverse to install the new stuf

Back from the dead, just thought I'd update. My si motor has been running great in the hf chassis, no problems with reverse or anything. Runs like a stock si
